First TC Tuesday Night Sprints Held

The first freestyle XC ski sprints were held Tuesday night at
Timber Ridge in Traverse City, with 53 skiers participating. St Franicis junior high students
raced a 2km course, with AJ Ambrosius winning in 8:17 followed by Brian Hunt in 9:08. Kirsten
Britten was first for jr high girls in 8:20, a close second to Elizabeth Prentice in 8:43, and
Adele Wunsch in third in 10:00.
All high school team members and adults raced a 4km freestyle
course, with close finishes among both high school boys and girls. The winners of the boys race
were all from the TC Central team, Cameron Ross first in 11:06, followed by Jon Ault in 11:32,
and then Bill Bradley in 11:59. Cassidy Edwards from Glen Lake took the lead for the high school
girls in 11:31, followed by the 2 Coulter twins from Central, Julia in 11:46 and Anna in 11:51.
Michael Weir swept the men's 4km race in 11:49, followed by Lew
Coulter in 13:09 and Rick Weir in 13:53. Debbie Westphal won the women's race in 13:12, followed
closely by Jesi Weir-Schwab in 13:20 and Sara Cockrell in 14:36.
