Posted - Feb 15 2014 : 11:12:43 AM Picnic ski at Stinchfield Woods. The biggest, prettiest place to ski in SE MI. Lots of big, long hills with safe run-outs. For decently fit skiers with intermediate skills. Big hardwood valleys. Like our own Hanson Hills. Home of Peach Mountain, highest point in SE MI. Also home to UM Observatory. 5 sq mi woodlot. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Professional Bldg parking lot just west of the N. Terr. & Dext-Pinck Rd intersection. Ski about 2 hours, 15km. Not a race, but uphills/downhills are challenging, rewarding. No-drop. Regroup after sections. Stop for snacks a time or two. More snacks and refreshments afterward in the parking lot. BYO. Stage 2 of MI BC Ski Series. (Yeah, it'll be after a few warm days but Stinch holds snow/coolness better than anywhere else in SE MI.)
