In the exciting race with two intermediate sprints, the top three stayed always in the leading group. The first intermediate sprint won Petra Majdic (SLO) and in the second one, was Justyna Kowalczyk the first who crossed the sprint line.

It was the first sprint classic World Cup victory for Norway's Marit Bjoergen after 5 years. Northug, the runner-up in last season's overall World Cup, collected his second victory of the season on the demanding course ahead of Germany's Tobias Angerer.

When the result board turned to the next page and showed her final result Haley Johnson could not help but crying. Not only was it the best result for the US women this season but it also was the direct qualification for the US Olympic Team.

For the first time after 1993, Slovenia will host a Viessmann FIS Cross-Country World Cup the upcoming weekend. In Rogla, a tourism resort at 1.500m above the sea level, the athletes will fight for the next World Cup points.
