The Cross Country Ski Headquarters won the Michigan Cup for the third year in a row - their fourth win since 2004. In a surprise to many, Traverse City Nordic took the Brumbaugh Cup for the most powerful team on the 2009 Michigan Cup circuit.

Christina Mishica was again the best placed Great Lakes District junior during the Junior Olympics, this time in the 5 Km Classic. Mishica finished 27th in the OJ Girls division.

It was a day for the home crowd as Norway swept the men's World Cup podium with Ola Vigen Hattestad winning the classic sprint in Trondheim. Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT) took the lead for the U.S. finishing 23rd.
