In my hand is a piece of paper. It's the Medal Standings from the Nordic Ski World Championships. In the number one spot is the USA with four medals including three gold. Norway is in second – but a relatively distant second with just one gold.

Petter Northug of Norway took in the first World Championship gold of his career Sunday as he won the men's 30K pursuit at the FIS Nordic World Championships in Liberec. James Southam (Anchorage) led the way for U.S. men finishing 33rd.
