With no real downhills there were no places to catch a quick rest. It was an unrelenting ski - if you went too hard, you had to slow down on the flat rather than take advantage of the next downhill to rest.

The three laps of exactly 4km each had plenty of snow. Conditions were soft in places but no one was complaining - most competitors thought the trail had the best snow in the lower peninsula!

a skier survey was conducted after the 2005 race when marginal snow conditions forced the last minute relocation of the race start/finish from the trailhead in Acme to Timber Ridge. The skiers overwhelmingly loved the layout, convenience and amenities.
