Italy gave the home country fans something to cheer about in Pragelato, winning the men's 4 x 10-km cross country relay. The USA was 12th, a disappointment after finishing fifth in 2002.

With the clouds dumping snow, Steer started the competition less than two minutes off the lead. Steer has struggled with prone shooting all season, but today cleaned both prone stages with deliberate, accurate shooting.

Perhaps it was the sudden change in weather. Perhaps someone picked the wrong wax for her. Perhaps she picked out the wrong skis, which, coupled with the wrong wax, made her feel as if she was she was wading in knee-deep mud.

Kris Freeman was the top U.S. finisher in Friday's cross country 15km classical race in Pragelato as he took 22nd. Lars Flora, Andrew Johnson and Justin Freeman placed 51-52-53, respectively.
