Huron Meadows Groomer Appreciation Party

Date: Sat, Apr 2, 2011
Time: 11:30 AM
Where: Huron Meadows Metropark, Brighton, MI
What: The 3rd annual Huron Meadows groomer appreciation party will be held at the Huron Meadows Metropark clubhouse April 2nd at 11:30.

It’s the time of year to thank the people who made great skiing at Huron Meadows Metropark possible.  For those of you who ski in Southeastern Michigan you were again able to experience the fantastic grooming at Huron Meadows Metropark.

The people responsible for creating these conditions go above and beyond their jobs in making sure that every possible skiable day is made available to us through their hard work.

This year, we’ve had snow created for us from frozen lakes, ski trails created along fence lines, and grooming after storms with gale force winds. Some snowstorms required over 40 hours of grooming to get you great conditions.  Work often begins at 4:00 a.m.!

Whether you’re a racer or a recreational skier; if you like to ski you owe a debt of gratitude to the groomers.  So, it’s time to thank these people for their hard work.

The 3rd annual groomer appreciation party will be held at the Huron Meadows Metropark clubhouse April 2nd at 11:30.  Please R.S.V.P. to Ken Roth at [email protected] by March 31st if you are attending.  It is important that people R.S.V.P.

We are requesting a donation at the door of $8 per person to offset the cost of the food and a small recognition award for the groomers.  Any money collected above those costs will be donated back to the Huron Meadows grooming fund.

We will provide pizza, salad, and non-alcoholic beverages. Feel free to bring any additional food items you wish.  If we have beautiful weather, we’ll hold the event outside in a pavilion.

We’ll have lunch, talk about the ski season, and then express our appreciation for the hard work done by the HMMP team.  Mike Muha will also formally present his donation to the Huron Meadows fund!

Now, here’s the guilt trip part.  Remember what skiing in Southeastern Michigan looked like before we had the grooming at HMMP?  It was a pretty sorry picture.  The people who provide us with great conditions need to know that their work is being appreciated.  The Park system needs to know that skiers recognize this work.  If you don’t come to the party and great grooming goes away, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself, and you’ll miss a good time as well!

Looking forward to seeing all of you.  I promise, no more guilt trips, until next year.
