| What: |
Glide your way to better health in 2013 by learning how to cross-country
ski at Kensington Metropark. Cross-country ski lessons are offered on
four Sundays, January 20 and 27, and February 3 and 10, at 10 am and 1
pm each day.
“It looks simple, but there are techniques that can improve your stride
and make your cross-country ski experience less work and more
enjoyable,” says Mark Irish, cross-country ski instructor.
“Cross-country skiing can be a lifetime sport, and it is a great way to
stay in shape and tour the parks at the same time.”
Irish will be teaching the classic-stride skiing, with emphasis on how
to best use your arms and legs, as well proper skiing position. Classes
are limited to 20 persons, and preregistration is required. The one-hour
lessons cost $14, which includes renting ski equipment for four hours,
or just $4 if you bring your own ski equipment. Skiers should dress in
layers for outdoor exercise, and meet at the Ski Center, which is
located on the golf course. Lessons will be held, snow conditions
permitting. For more information, or to register, call Kensington
Metropark at 810-227-8910.
