Kids are a priority at the
Cross Country Ski Headquarters

Kids are a priority at the Cross Country Ski HeadquartersAs someone whose parents put her on skis the moment she could walk, I can attest to how awesome it is to grow up cross country skiing. I have great memories of snowy winter days at the Cross Country Ski Headquarters, where I would spend hours going up and down the practice hill, or sprinting as hard as I could to beat my brothers in the 4-H Olympics, or later competing in the annual Muffin Races.

At the time I had no idea of the tremendous health benefits of skiing - in fact, if you would have asked me then what my favorite part of cross-country skiing was, I probably would have said, “Eating chili and drinking hot cocoa” – but it is clearer now more than ever how skiing from an early age set me on a lifelong track of physical fitness and competitive spirit.

It has always been a priority at the Cross Country Ski Headquarters to get kids outfitted in high quality junior classic and skating equipment, and our trade-in program makes it possible for parents to get their children into great XC ski gear without breaking the bank. We have families that come in year after year as their kids grow to swap their equipment for bigger sizes, and we always send them away with skis that are fun, fast, and fit well for racing or otherwise.

We are true believers in the importance of fresh air and physical activity for kids, especially in this day and age when child obesity levels are higher than they’ve ever been. We also believe it should be fun, and that is why we are committed to making it easy and affordable for parents to get their kids cross country skiing.
