Michigan Cup skier and Team NordicSkiRacer Steve Kuhl put it on the line and raced with the best at the US Cross Country Ski Championships.
In the interval-start 10K classic race on Wednesday, Steve had start position 429th out of 443 skiers on the start list (counting the 174 women who skied the race first). Skiers like Steve who were late on the course had to deal with bare patches on the descents, requiring some to step into the slush. On the climbs, ice, slush, sugar and earth all manifested themselves. Hitting the right wax was impossible. Still, Steve was able to climb into 198th place out of 248 men.
Steve started in a similar place on the start list in today's 15km freestyle, but moved up the ranks to finish 167th place out of 240 men.
Congratulations to Steve Kuhl!
