Noquemanon Ski Marathon

Ishpeming to Marquette, MI

Solda detailed recommendation:

Pick a ski with a medium flex, a little tip splay  and a fine grind.

GOOD WAX:

Base: Start with a layer of Solda HC28 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Paraffin: Solda F15 Green. Two layers of this if you have the time and patience.

BETTER WAX:

Base: Start with a layer of Solda HC 28 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Paraffin: Solda F15 Green. Two layers of this if you have the time and patience.
Powder: Solda S30 cold powder. Scrape this lightly while it is still warm. Scrape lightly again when the ski is cool. Brush with fine steel and then horsehair.

BEST WAX:

Base: Start with a layer of Solda HC 28 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Paraffin: Solda F15 Green. Two layers of this if you have the time and patience.
Powder: Solda HP05.
Top: Solda S30 Cold Powder.  These last two steps can be combined using Solda HP05/S30 mix.

If there is more new snow than currently forecast or if it is snowing during the race I would go with Solda HP06 and top with S30 Cold Powder.
