Dan Motowski found this posting on the MMBA web site - Sounds like a good cause for rollerskiers as well!
I'd like to invite all members of the cycling community to attend a special Planning Commission meeting of the Green Oak Township board as a show of support for the proposed westward extension of the South Lyon rail trail system. The paved trail system now runs from South Lyon, north to Island Lake and Kensington Recreation Areas and also to Wixom. The proposed extension would run from South Lyon to Hamburg, connecting to Pinckney and the trail system beyond.
The meeting will be at the Green Oak Township Hall, on Tuesday, November 25th at 7:00 PM. The hall is located at the northeast corner of US-23 and Silver Lake Road (exit 55) about 15 minutes north of Ann Arbor.
The project is to be paid for by state funds, and the number cyclists runners, (and rollerskiers!), etc. we can put at this meeting will be an indicator level of interest in the community at large. You don't have to be a resident of Green Oak to attend, just show up and listen or voice your interest in seeing the project move forward. Your presence will be considered a vote in favor of the project!
