The 6th Annual REI Frosty Freestyle lived up to its name, with temperatures just above zero and a bit of a breeze blowing. Racers bundled up in extra layers and balaclavas. Course conditions were excellent.
Dakota Blackhorse von Jess and Rosie Brennan won the freestyle sprint event at the U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships. For Blackhorse von Jess, it was his third national title and his second at this week’s U.S. Championship.

The Vasa Ski Club Tuesday night sprint series starts tonight and runs every Tuesday through March 3, 2015. Each event is a 4k race, either classic or skate, and located at either Timber Ridge Resort or Hickory Hills.
Show up to the Hanson Hills Nordic Trailhead anytime between 5 & 7 p.m.; begin timing yourself at the trailhead sign and finish timing at the return of the trailhead sign. The 5k (3.1 mile) green trail course will be groomed.
