Wed, Mar 3: Valley Spur (Munising)
Since I knew Valley Spur would be groomed this morning & didn’t get as warm as Marquette yesterday afternoon, I joined Peggy, Judy, Denise & Lynn for a ski on B, H, C, G Return, snowmobile connector, Y & D. The combed skate lanes & classic tracks were great, as was the companionship. As it turned out, the Noque reported it wasn’t groomed since too warm overnight, and to expect icy conditions.

Wed, Mar 3: Vasa Trail (Traverse City)
Surprisingly decent skiing on the Vasa today. I wasn't able to arrive until the crack of noon when it was 41F in the parking lot, but the snow still thought it was about 31F. Don't let the boilerplate ice at the TH scare you away. Overall there is about 5% grey ice, mostly in the first 1K including both sides of The Bridge, and the balance of the 10K skate lane is mostly nicely softened refrozen white snow. Not super fast, but definitely not draggy slow either. Just a few spots of sun-burned bare ground incursion onto the trail edge. Plenty of tree debris from yesterday's high winds for you to practice pole control by flicking it off to the side. The 4K yardstick indicated about 4" compacted base, and depth in the woods average of double that or more. Considering the full 25K for tomorrow.

Wed, Mar 3: Hanson Hills (Grayling)
Perfect groomed conditions greeeyed me this morning. I got there early to beat the warm up. All trails I went on were well snow covered with set tracks. I skated and saw Leigh whetstone and Hap Wright classic skiing. Sunny and beautiful. You could still use good skis. We need more snow for this to continue. Thank you Hanson Hills

Wed, Mar 3: Cross Country Ski Headquarters (Higgins Lake)
Yesterday was a gorgeous day, with mild temps and partly sunny skies. The trail surface is holding up remarkably well, thanks to cold overnight temps. Groomer Mike will snowcomb the open trails this morning, and with minimal ice and debris, and only one or two small thin/bare spots, they should be great for skating and classic skiing outside the tracks today. We have 6-14 inches inches of snow in the woods, and 2-6 inches packed on most of the trail surface. Due to ice and debris, we have closed the Manitou and Tall Pines trails for the time being.

Wed, Mar 3: Huron Meadows Metropark (Brighton)
Staff will be hauling more snow this morning as long as temperatures are conducive. Our plan going forward at this point is to hopefully provide skiable conditions the rest of this week and into the weekend. After that it looks like Mother Nature will be calling the shots. Bucks Run will be available around noon today.
