Thu, Jan 22: Milham Park Golf Course (Kalamazoo)
The saying feast or famine comes to mind...tons of fresh snow made packing and setting a challenge today. The outside loop was set for both skate and classic skiing but to be truthful, and acknowledging this is a golf course, the remarkable amount of snow is being blown over our grooming efforts. Skate deck is soft and classic tracks being blown full but hey it's better than what we have seen too much of recently. Enjoy! Dave D

Once the crew at Huron Meadows rolled the trails, it was a little on the soft side but much better than the half a foot of fresh snow that Mike made me ski in on the contractors loop. Conditions should firm up and be quite good the next few days if you can brave the cold! Thanks HM crew!

Bucks Run: classic tracks are blown in on the connector. In the woods is better protected from the wind. Skate deck looked firm and fast. The loop of Coyote that is behind Bucks is rolled - soft so great for classic - and very nice as it is even more protected from the wind.

Thu, Jan 22: Michaywe (Gaylord)
Received 4-5 inches since yesterday. Still receiving additional wind blown snow with considerable drifting. Packed and rolled the lake loop, herringbone, the river trail, and both golf course loops. Weather is going to be pretty harsh the next 24-36 hours.

Got here early enough (9am) that no grooming had been done. By the time I left (10:15), Bucks Run was groomed and the north golf course was rolled. Even with unrolled snow, the contractors loop was a fun albeit slow skate. (Tony begs to differ: "This sucks". Well I had fun!!!!)

Thu, Jan 22: Hanson Hills (Grayling)
Mother Nature delivered 3 inches of fresh snow overnight! Groomer Dan has combed and set classic tracks on Yellow, Brown, Green, M-93, and the Novice Loops.
Blue Trail:
Day-old classic track—expect it to be a bit slower, but the skate lane was freshly combed this morning.
Senior Thursday Special (65+):
Enjoy the trails today with $13 Nordic trail passes.

Skate and classic tracks set yesterday. Hit the classic set after 1/2” snow spurt this morning. Not bad. Thin in some spots with grass, but nothing unreasonable. Tracks were starting to drift in on the hills with the high winds. Looks like they rolled the east woodland trail (#2) too.

Good Morning Everybody :) It's another beautiful, snowy morning up here....temperature at -11 C.
The groomer was out this morning -- the 4k Pinder (the last to be groomed, finishing around 7 a.m.), the Red Pine system and the Crystal system were all Piston Bully groomed for both classic and skate.
Mabel Flats, including the creek, was groomed yesterday afternoon.
The trails are in fantastic shape, so come on up and enjoy the beauty of the bush!

Thu, Jan 22: Forbush Corner (Frederic)
We are definitely not lacking snow this year. Few more inches overnight, more in the forecast, and cold temperatures will preserve the snowpack. Grooming east side trails today for skate and classic. Open 9 to 5.

Wed, Jan 21: Independance Oaks (Clarkston)
Skate skiing was good! Seems like the park rolled the trails prior to the morning snow or during it. At noon the base was packed but there was about 2 inches of fresh snow on top. Made for some decent skating and a few classic skiers were setting tracks. Best conditions I have seen there this year just a little slow due to the fresh snow. Should be even faster tomorrow.

It's true! Cross country skiing is fun. Especially when the snow is great.
Skiing is believing even on snowmobile trails or just plain back country.

Wed, Jan 21: Vasa Trail (Traverse City)
When my 2 yr. old granddaughter gets annoyed at me she says "no papa, walk away". Well, if you were skiing the Vasa trail today and had any complaints I would say "no skier, ski somewhere else". With a fresh groom by Piper (the 2nd time this week) the trail condition were awesome, or as a upcoming Vasa skier would say "race ready". Trail and snow conditions are the best in years so take advantage of this year to participate in the Vasa race. Not a racer, no problem, we have a 6k tour on Sunday with no times or placements. Just fun skiing with friends. Know any kids that like to ski, try the Big Foot Community Relay. No fee ! To top it off we have a great valentines night party at the Park Place Hotel. Live band and free hors d'oeuvres. Go to vasa.org to sign up or volunteer.

I went around Cedar Trace and did a few laps of Buck's Run this afternoon. Lots of coverage. Buck's is in great shape, Cedar Trace was OK but pretty slow and a bit sticky in parts. The trails off the golf course would be great if they got around to grooming them. Rod Little

Wed, Jan 21: Stokely Creek (Goulais River)
Hakon Lien and the perimeter trails should be good for the 34km Loppet on Jan 31 (if you aren't racing MI Cup and want a fun tough course). Still 100m or so of a bit rough on the long climb in Ebare Tract with no track set, but one more good snow should allow for a continuous track. Additional bonus: Face and leg whips on downhills are at an all time low!

Wed, Jan 21: Michaywe (Gaylord)
Groomed out the skate deck on maple ridge, reset track on most of the lake loop, freshened up the skate deck on most of herringbone, and groomed and reset track on the front 9 loop.

Wed, Jan 21: Crystal Mountain (Thompsonville)
Whew! We've dug out of two feet of fresh powder since Thursday (Jan. 15) and more is on the way tonight. Beginner and Intermediate trails are open and we are finishing grooming and track setting this afternoon. Currently our Advanced trails are closed while we continue grooming but we are hopeful to work on them today. Coverage is excellent and the conditions are fantastic.

Good Wednesday Morning to all of our Lovers of Snow....and it's a great thing as we do have a LOT of it!! Temperature's warming up....currently sitting at -16 C.
The groomer was out yesterday afternoon/evening, finishing at 6 p.m. All systems were Piston Bully groomed for both classic and skate, and trails are looking fantastic!
Come on up and breathe in the crisp, fresh air while taking in the quiet peacefulness of just you and your skis gliding through the beautiful snow-covered trees :)
