Beautiful, freshly rolled skate track. No classic track to speak of. Did multiple laps of the Contractors Loop and had a blast!

Wed, Dec 10: Huron Meadows Metropark (Brighton)

If you didn't know, you can't groom when it's a above freezing, so if you expected good skating conditions or amazing tracks at Huron Meadows today , you were sorely disappointed ??. But it was awesome to break trail on my waxless classic touring skis with Sarah and Tony around the lake and the contractor's loop! Big smiles just getting out in the woods!

Mon, Dec 8: Independance Oaks (Clarkston)

I have been skiing Independence Oaks for 18 years this winter, current conditions for the lake loop are as good as ever! Snow is fast, good coverage, and saw the groomer out for a touch up. Get out there!

I skied the golf course at Kensington for the first time today. It was really nice! Amazing how options increase when there is good natural snow on the ground. Sunday’s 1-2” of snow had not been groomed in yet, but skating was still fairly easy. Trail was marked with pink flags, which made it easy to navigate. If they groom after our next snowfall it will be primo. Thank you metropark staff!

MAN-MADE SNOW IS BEING ADDED TO BUCK'S RUN! Tony Percha and I arrived at Huron Meadows at 7:45am this morning. A brisk 7 degrees out but no wind..we could see the snow plum.from.one of the snowmaking guns in the distance. As we put our boots on, the groomer came by setting fresh corduroy over the inch or two of new snow that fell last last night. Conditions were a little faster than I expected given the temps.

We skied over to the section of Coyote Run that loops through the trees behind Buck's Run for an easy ski. I also wanted to donate speed workout (10-15 second all-out sprints). The trail was in great shape. We could hear equipment running and all of a sudden the park's material hauler came out on the trail heading back to the snow pile for more snow! We of course got way off the trail to let it by - we certainly didn't not want to slow him down!

Fingers crossed - maybe Buck's Run will be open this weekend!

Sun, Dec 7: Kensington Metropark (Milford)

The Kensington Metropark website says "The golf course trails last groomed on 12/6/25, but no tracks have been set at this time. All other trails remain ungroomed."

I have not skied on it yet, but I thought everyone would want to know that Kensington is grooming!

Not bad considering how early in the season it is. some grassy spots that you can get around easily. the loop behind Bucks is real nice for skating. not enough snow for tracks though. some areas do have leaves but not terrible. worth going, enjoy!
