It may be 80 degrees outside but inside,the trails beckon. Olympic hopefuls and tourists alike can now take advantage of Germany's first cross-country ski trail, in the winter-sports mecca of Oberhof in eastern Germany.

At the end of August, the first indoor skiing facility opened in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. With 7,000 cubic meters of snow covering 18,500 square meters the facility called Ylläs-Halli offers conditions for a wide range of different winter sports.
