Michigan Cup Marathon &
Hanson Hills Classic: Both Races are "On"!

Spoke with Cindy today.  They have enough snow and both races are on. There will be some slight course modification out on the trials and they are making snow to cover the bottom of the downhill and the garage area. 

Michigan Marathon - 30K Men, 15K Women - there will be no Junior race although Juniors are invited to ski the 15K race.  The Junior race will not be a JO Qualifier or a Michigan Cup race.  Reasoning is that the JO team has already been chosen and skiers are in transit to Junior Olympics.

Hanson HIlls Classic - 12K Men and Women, 6K Juniors - Again Junior race will not count for JO Qualifier or Michigan Cup points. 

Start times remain as already posted @ www.nordicskiracer.com.  Both races will count for Michigan Cup points for Senior skiers.  This means a skiers best five races (best 5 of 9) will count in the senior and masters classes. For Juniors only a skiers best 4 races will count (best 4 of 7).

Hope to see everyone there.  More snow is forecast and we need a good one to end the year.

Cindy Olson at Hanson Hills asked me today if I could get a consensus on holding separate Junior races next weekend. Since they were originally scheduled as Junior Olympic Qualifying races, if there's no interest from juniors, then there's no need for the extra grooming and volunteers. (Her email is not working at this time.)

If Grayling gets adequate snow, and the trails can be groomed to satisfy racer expectations (thanks, Dick), they would remain as planned. A final decision on the trail conditions will be made by the middle of next week.

       30k men, 15k women, 10k jrs
Sun: Hanson Hills Classic
       12k adults, 6k jrs

RACES RE-SCHEDULED

The Michigan Cup XC ski races scheduled for this weekend at Hanson Hills Recreation Area, west of Grayling, have had to be postponed, due to limited snow base and unfavorable weather conditions. The races have been rescheduled for March 2 and 3.

Saturday's freestyle race, the Michigan Cup Marathon, will start at 10:00 on March 2, with registration from 8:30-9:45. Senior men will race 30km, while women and juniors will race 15km. The entry fee is $25 for seniors and $10 for juniors.

Sunday's race, the Hanson Hills Classic, will have interval starts at 10:00 on March 3. Registration will take place from 8:30-9:45. Seniors will race a 12km course, while juniors will race 6km. The entry fee is $20 for seniors and $8 for juniors. Hanson Hills will also hold a children's race for 12 yrs and under at 11:30.
