The group in The Garden of the Gods
During the first full day, athletes were fitted to rifles and went through the process of learning the basic shooting mechanics inside the two story indoor shooting facility located within the Olympic Complex. During the afternoon session the group went on a run at the popular Garden of the Gods Park which is known for its many red rock landmarks and the day came to an end with a tightly contested game of volleyball where the group showed that they were meant to be on skis and not the volleyball court!

Day two included an early morning rollerski technique session followed by a strength session using a new program called Muscle Action Quality (MAQ) introduced by the new Sr. National Team coaches. The MAQ program is unique in that it starts off with light weight and focuses on using quality movements, balance, and coordination which provide plenty of obstacles to overcome during the workout. After lunch the group headed to the famous Pikes Peak for an afternoon hike. Upon reaching 8000ft. in elevation the group was surprised to find themselves in the middle of a snowstorm with gusting winds making it feel like winter again! After dinner it was back down to the shooting range for one last training session and then off to bed.

The final day was spent in the shooting range where coaching staff set up a series of shooting drills that allowed athletes to set goals to challenge themselves and both the athletes and coaches were happy to see the improvements made since Day 1!
