You can't really see the tool Ian is using to scrape the sides and edges of the ski and to clean out the grooves - it's the Toko Multi-Purpose Scraper. You would never use this to scrape wax off the bases (you need a stiff, thick Plexiglas scraper), but I have used to also scrape kick wax and klister off classic skis:
