Cross Country Ski Headquarters celebrates over 50 years of skiing!

For over 50 years, Cross Country Ski Headquarters has been a beloved winter gathering place in Northern Michigan. Surrounded by inland lakes and rivers, this rustic ski lodge and trail system has welcomed generations of skiers, snowshoers, and outdoor lovers looking for fresh air, good food, and winter fun.
After last season's incredible snowfall - and with another snowy winter in the forecast - anticipation is already building for another unforgettable year at this Nordic skiing hub of the Midwest.
"Nothing beats a perfect day on the trails with friends, food, and a warm fire waiting at the end," said George Frye of Cross Country Ski Headquarters. "We've spent decades making skiing approachable, affordable, and fun for everyone, whether it's your first time on skis or your hundredth."
The Headquarters is known for its expertly groomed trail system, affordable rental gear, and free weekly ski lessons. The day lodge is a favorite stop for a hot meal or a drink by the big stone fireplace, and the award-winning retail shop makes gearing up for winter easy and enjoyable.
Each weekend brings something new to look forward to - from foodie feasts to themed ski events. A few highlights this season include:
- Winter Trails Day: A free learn-to-ski event for beginners on January 10th.
- Golden Years Ski Club: An XC ski workshop and guided ski tour for ages 55+ on January 11th.
- Bavarian Ski Festival: Signature event featuring Bavarian themed food and costumes, plus stein-holding competition! On January 24th.
- Winter Feast: A foodie favorite, featuring a gourmet meal with wine pairings. On January 30th.
- Ribs and Blues: A celebration of great music and great food, not to mention great skiing! On February 21st.
- Muf?n Race: The longest-standing junior XC ski race in Michigan. Prizes for best costumes! On February 22nd.
