Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
We are very excited to announce that the new Classic Trail is open for skiing
Blizzard conditions created challenging shooting conditions at Mt Itasca for NorAm # 2 on Sunday. The high winds and snow made shooting very difficult and the ski tracks slow. Nevertheless, the results were surprisingly tight.
The snow situation in Oberhof is excellent and the weather forecast predicts more snow and cold weather. The Tour will kick off on 27th December with a prologue followed by a handicap start race on 28th December.
Two low fluoro waxes that we have found to be excellent are SOLDA Performance Red & UF7.,
I propose we trial a Michigan Cup scoring system that is the same as what's currently used at any xc running meets. This system, long term, might replace the current scoring used for the Brumbaugh Cup. We'll see what feedback we get at the end of the year
Proposal for tracking Michigan Cup Team points. Team Race points will be tracked for 2009, but only used for demonstration purposes - no awards will be given based on these points.
These are traditional paraffin waxes made from very clean, high quality paraffin.
The IPICO Sports turnkey timing system will allow for streamlined chip pickup at registration, on course splits and immediate race results at the finish line.
We come to race. It's simple like that-- show up, ski fast. During our stay in Silver Star, BC, with two sprint races and three distance race, I stepped up to the start line eleven times.
Racing under extreme conditions (according to Sten Fjeldheim, the Northern Michigan University Nordic ski coach) both NMU and Michigan Tech's Nordic ski teams competed at the CXC Holiday Invitational over the weekend.
The most sought after waxes by the coaches and high level racers are the Fluoro Powders, HP04, HP05 and HP06. The HP05 is a fluroro powder that stretches to a wide range far beyond the temperatures listed on the label.

Nubs Nob: Absolutely great today . Nubs groomers are showing off their deep hard pack base with near daily grooming and fresh snow contributions. The Spring Sweat Spot seems consistent between 10 AM to 1:30 pm . Not to be missed !
Nubs Nob: Perfect late March conditions this AM on all the upper and lower loops. With the base being measured in feet, and persistent grooming, this Friday-Sunday AM should be some of the best conditions of the entire winter at Nubs!
Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Well, despite our best efforts, we are going to shut down the trail system for the season. Too many barespots and debris. We are closing the Cafe for the season as well. We will likely have a 'trail cleanup BBQ' sometime in early may, and rest assured, the trails will be glorious by next season.
We are incredibly grateful for the epic winter we had and all the wonderful skiing we got to do! Certainly a winter for the books. Thank you for skiing with us this year and bringing such good cheer to the skiing community. May the 'off-season' treat you well, and we look forward to skiing with you next year!
Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Middle of the Week Everyone!! It's currently a calm morning, with more snow in the forecast today. The temperature is currently -4 C.
The groomer was out last evening -- all systems were Piston Bully groomed for both classic and skate. With the cooler temps overnight, they may be a little icy to start the day.
Mabel Lake trail was groomed yesterday as of 1:30 p.m.
Have a great day, everyone!!
Hickory Hills: Excellent skiing at Hickory this morning. The Hills were completely groomed with the Pisten Bully. Good corduroy in the skate lane and deep classic tracks. The Meadows were groomed with the Tidd Tech behind a Gator. Upper Meadows had a nice skate lane, and deep classic tracks from yesterday's PB groom. East Meadows were groomed, but the Tidd Tech couldn't cut through the ski ruts and posthole footprints. Skiable, but not enjoyable. Stick to the Upper Meadows and Hills.
Hiawatha Highlands: Good Morning Skiers! It's currently a very snowy morning up here, with a temperature of -7 C.
There was no grooming overnight, they're going to let the snow fall before taking to the trails. We will post if any updates.
Have a fantastic day!! :)
Forbush Corner: Here is our plan going forward into the week. The shop will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. The side gate on Roberts Rd will be left open, and the trails will be available to ski. If not a season pass holder, please leave a $10 trail fee in the slot provided near the east shop entrance.
On Friday, we will resume full operation through Monday. We expect that this will be it for the season.
Forbush Corner: Temps went below zero last night and some light lake effect snow is falling. We will be grooming, check Nordic pulse on our website later this morning for the fresh groom. We still have 100% coverage on our trail system. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
Forbush Corner: My third ski in the last 5 days and it was wonderful. I used my good skis on the beautiful corduroy. Glide was fast control perfect. I did pines to Hartwick Pines back on AB down that wonderful hill to Badlands loop to ridge. Could be my last day but what a winner. Thank you Forbush ( and Mother Nature) for this wonderful season.
Dunes Golf Club: Finally a very supportive crust has developed.
Cold nights and cold days with sunny times helps maintain funness!
Always use caution as crust has some surprises.
At the dunes golf conditions are more predictable and tree shading extends ski time as things soften throughout the day.
Crust areas are area wide like open farmland (corn and hay fields).
Limited parking at entrance
Serious fun

Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Monday Morning Skiers! It's another beautiful sunny morning....the temp is currently at -6 C, warming up to -1 C.
The groomer is currently out -- the skate lane on the entire Pinder system was freshened up with the Ginzu, and the 2k Lighted skate lane will be freshened up as well. The tracks are still in really good shape. Updates will be posted if further grooming is done.
The Mabel Lake trail was groomed yesterday morning.
We hope everybody has a great day!! :)
