Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
I decided that, rather than wait till the later stage in the race to turn it on, I just took off. I figured that if I could put some distance between the other racers they would not be able to draft me.,
The highlight of Day 3 was the performance of David MacLean. For every Michigan Cup skier we have been a witness to David’s flawless technique. And during today's 10k....,
Upon un-boxing the skis, I immediately noticed that the binding and boot system resembles a Look bicycle cleat. The boots are light. There is no rotating cuff commonly found on other brands of skating boots.,
One great thing about the World Masters is not worrying about your start lanes. The start has 20 diagonal lanes and your exact starting position is marked with a tag, i.e. row 1 and lane 5.,
The Russians who had over 100 entries in the World Masters seemed to dominate every age class. Stephen Smiegel seemed to have one of the best Michigan Cup race finishes. Steve placed 12th in a very competitive age class.,
Lots of pics from Italy. The venue was in the mountain valley just 15 minutes up a beautiful hanging valley from Malles Italy. The elevation was 1700 M and the courses were very difficult.,
Adam Kates of the Soo Finnish Ski Club drove down from Sault St Marie, ON to put the hurt on local Michigan skiers winning by more than three minutes. And last year's MI Cup champion Emily Flynn (NordicSkiRacer) was back on the podium with a first.,
Pyeong Chang, Korea. Lowell Bailey (after finishing 29th in the Sprint on Wednesday jumped to a World Cup personal best 11th place finish over the weekend.,
Great video of the entire sprint final. Andy Newell is in blue. Watch as Andy tries to sneak by Bjorn Lind on a left hand corner...,
Paull’s winning time of 1:47:26 was a new course record. Hardin’s time of 2:10:10 was good enough for 14th overall and 1st in her division.,
Virpi Kuitunen from Finland and the Tour de Ski Winner Lukas Bauer won the Interval start race over 10 km (ladies) and 15 km (men) in the classical technique in Lahti.,
Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic won the men's 15K classic individual race in a cross country World Cup on Sunday in Lahti. Kris Freeman led two other U.S. skiers in the race in 51st.,

Forbush Corner: We will be out grooming again tomorrow morning. Results have been springlike, fast solid skate deck early that softens with traffic and warming temperatures, and classic tracks that are fast early and variable in depth. Coverage is still 100%. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
Forbush Corner: Great day of classic and skate skiing today. Classic tracks were shallow but still very skiable. Skate lane hard and fast. All east side trails and pines loop all groomed. Nice job groomers.
Thanks for a great day everyone at Forbush!!
Nubs Nob: If there is a Holy Grail for skate and classic Nordic Skiing , it is at Nubs Nob today !
Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Sunny Friday Morning!! It's a gorgeous morning up here....albeit a little more chilly, temp currently at -16 C. However, it's going to be a splendous day up here!
The groomer is currently on the trails -- the 2k Lighted was completed, Piston Bully groomed, for both classic and skate. He is currently on the 4k Pinder (no loops will be groomed today, still in good shape). The Crystal system will be done after that. We will update if the Red Pine system will be done.
Come on everybody, grab your gear, and take in this beautiful sunny day!!
Reminder: Come up tomorrow (Saturday) from 12-4 p.m. for our Customer Appreciation BBQ.....enjoy a hotdog (or two), and enjoy a lovely social afternoon :)
Forbush Corner: The rain is moving out soon and the temps will be dropping well below freezing tonight, allowing us to head out on the trails tomorrow. We still have 100% coverage, but expect that the grooming will be a bit slower than usual. East side trails and Pines Loop will get the fresh groom. Trails and shop open at 9. Gates close at 5. (We plan to be open tomorrow through Monday).
Hiawatha Highlands: Good Morning Everyone!! It's another calm morning, a bit foggy. The temperature was warm overnight, now sitting at -1 C.
There was no grooming with the warm overnight temps, the trails are still in good shape.
We hope everybody has a great day :)
