The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team's Andy Newell (Shaftsburry, VT) led the way for five U.S. athletes into the final heats of a World Cup classic sprint in Whistler, finishing seventh at the site of the 2010 Olympic Games.

Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) capitalized on a massive 134.0 meter jump to win the Olympic test event World Cup at the Whistler Olympic Park Friday. The DKB FIS Nordic Combined World Cup win was the fifth of his career and second this season.
