cross-country skiing and target shooting.... with a paintball gun! Ski

Traverse City is also hosting the MI High School State X-C ski championships of on Feb. 18-19th.
Marquette provided high quality events last season and it is our turn to welcome skiers from all over the state. Events will include classic and freestyle pursuit on Friday and sprints on Saturday. A new course has been created especially for the Championships.
Sprints Schedule:
9 am: Freestyle 1K; boys/girls

The LSSD XC Championship is a participation event that encourages all clubs
within the LSSD to get their members active in a competitive event. All skiers
of all ability levels are encouraged to participate!
An important and fun part of this event is the Club Participation Award.
Each and every skier who races receives points for his or her Club, so the more
skiers a Club has, the better a Club will do.
Event Details: The Saturday race will be classic and the Sunday race
free technique
Start Times:
- Saturday- Adult Races at 9:30 AM, Jackrabbit Categories at 12:00 PM
- Sunday - Adult Races at 1:00 PM, Jackrabbit Categories at 11:00 AM

CANCELLED AS OF 2/16/2011:
Because of the various obligations involved with the race, I have learned that a decision regarding cancellation of the race would have to be made by Noon on Thursday. Since the weather would continue to be warm for at least another 30 hours post the Thursday decision , further trail deterioration would certainly occur. Therefore we are cancelling Saturday's Black Mountain Nordic Classic ski race. All folks who preregistered will receive complimentary registration to next year's event. Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support for the event.

There will be a 31 km classic
race for Michigan Cup points and a non-Michigan Cup 10 km freestyle race. The 10 km freestyle (classic or skate) race will start at 10:00

Honey Bear Classic 15/30k

Racers of all ages will compete on the 15 K or 30 K classic course
set around the scenic Big Bay Pathway. This is a great course and
environment for family fun.
Registration will begin at 10:00 am at the Thunder Bay Inn. Races begin at 12:00 noon at the Pathway trailhead staging area.
Entry fee is $30. Ages 10 and under ski free. Awards Ceremony with
music, door prizes and refreshments will begin around 2:45 pm. Food
tickets will be on sale for $5.00.

Learn to Ski Free - XCHQ

4 PM For kids and adults. This is
an introductory class to introduce anyone with an interest in outdoor
winter recreation to the basics of Cross Country Skiing or Cross Country
Skate Skiing. Sign in at the rental desk at 3:45. This class is free
and lasts approx 1 hour. There is a nominal rental charge for those
without equipment. Conditions permitting.
