The roads around Orchard Lake were sopping wet and busy. This was one bike ride where riding point had definite advantages: no wheel spray in the face. Ryan started out, but Steve Kuhl and I both fought to take the lead to avoid the soaking.

In an event of firsts, Patricia Zerfas (MD) set a new course record of 21:12 (min:sec). For the first time, the visiting match team beat the host team, in this case by a score of 30 to 26. The Summer League is alive and well.
