The DNR today warned canoeists, kayakers, tubers, and those fishing that the footbridge over the Pigeon River in Cheboygan County on the High Country Pathway in the Pigeon River Country State Forest has collapsed and is blocking the river.

Citing a recent surge in interest, the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club says it wants to build a new lodge to replace the one it rents from the Kinsmen Club. The club is 1,200 strong and saw a marked increase in skiers last season.

A trail used for rollerskiing near Muskegon has been designated a National Recreation Trail and is an important part of the DNR vision to create a unified system of Michigan trails to connect natural, tourist and urban destinations.

Money from a state program is used to partially fund winter grooming of the Rendezvous Ski Trails and summer trail work. Our previous success in being awarded this grant has been the prolific and wide spread support we have received.
