This year, we are honored to host
J.D. Downing, National Director of the American Cross Country Skiers
Association from Bend, Oregon. He will be competing in one or more of our
races and will select the members of the US Masters National Team at the conclusion
of the adult races on Sunday. J.D. Is the head coach of XC Oregon, the
Northwest's premier cross-country ski team. He has also been Coach/Program
Director at Masters Camps and clinics nationwide. He was also a coach for the
1998 Paralympics and the 1995 World University Games.
We
have invited J.D. To put on two clinics at Timber Ridge Resort on Thursday Feb.
9th. They will
be as follows:
- Junior Clinic for all youth and ski team members from 3:30-5:00 pm
- Adult Clinic: 7pm-open to all skiers; contribution
of $5 for each adult to support our area junior programs.
Coach
Downing will cover conditioning, race preparations, nutrition, etc. He will
also be open to any
questions.

Never tried cross country skiing, but always wanted to? In the market
for some technique feedback? Interested in learning how to use your
poles more effectively or get more glide? If you answered “yes” to any
of these questions, a free ski lesson might just be the trick! Each
Saturday at 4pm, from December 8th – March 2nd, learn the basics of
Cross Country Classic Skiing or Skate Skiing at no charge (conditions
permitting). This is a beginner class for adults and kids. Lesson will
start at 4pm sharp, so if you need to rent skis, please sign in at the
rental desk no later than 3:45pm. This class is free and lasts
approximately 1 hour.
