The Holy Angels Elementary School is two for two – winning the VASA Championship Team Cup in 2006 and again this weekend! Perfect ski conditions at the VASA’s world class cross country race venue at Timber Ridge Resort greeted a record turnout for the North American VASA’s Kids Races. VASA championship medals were awarded to all finishers. Every participant also earned a point for their school in VASA Championship Cup scoring - the school with the greatest number of participants (relative to their school’s size). The emphasis is all about participation.
The VASA Team Champion Cup, a large traveling trophy, will again be engraved with the Holy Angels Elementary School’s name, kept by Holy Angels Elementary School for another year and then awarded to the next year’s 2008 winning school. Schools from the USA and Canada participated.
Cross country skiing is one of the best aerobic fitness activities in the world and the VASA Board hopes to encourage more of our youth to participate in cross country skiing.
Northern Michigan’s ski resorts and touring centers have ski equipment rental and lesson programs to help launch new skiers of all ages successfully into the healthy pursuit of cross country skiing.
