Daniel Dehlin Wins 2007 North American Vasa

50km Results

Marquette's Daniel Dehlin and Midland's Gussie Peterson took top honors in the 50km Freestyle in the North American Vasa. Dehlin beat second place finisher Milan Biac 2:33:56 to 2:35:07. Matt Aro from Superior was third.

Ms. Peterson (3:25:28) bested Debbie Mirikowski of Fairview by just under a minute. Dorothea Pomfret was third. In the classic 50K, Yoopers Jon Mommaerts, Tim Harrington, and Thomas Asmus took the top three spots.

Among women, it was Tami Kochen of Marquette in a commanding lead of Laura Waldo and Olga Rachitskaya.

27 Km Results

Richard Dressen from Ogden, Utah beat local Cliff Onthank in a close 27 k Freestyle race. Dressen 1:27:36 time was only 2 seconds faster than Onthank. John O'Hearn was third.

In the women's 27 Km freestyle, Debbie Westphal (1:44:03) beat Amy Powell by 36 seconds, the Rebecca Kalajian third.

John Gravlin is back! After taking a multi-year leave from racing, John won the 27km classic in 1:53:21, beating Sean Kelly and Tyler Jenema. Team NordicSkiRacer's Emily

Flynn picked up her fifth victory of the year by besting Amy Kostrzewa and Amy Todd in the women's classic event. Emily's time was 2:09:49.

12 Km Results

In the 12km Freestyle, Junior Elliot Putman was first in 40:38. Juniors Ross Williams and Kyle Endicott pulled in second and third.

Hannah Ciesla continued her winning ways by picking up another victory in the 12K, beating Laura Meeker and Julia Otwell.

In the 12km Classic, it was Peter Laplaca over Philip Hammerlsey and James Stark. Among women, Marcia Talicska took first over Dianne Munt and Lisa Kulesza.
