Angerer All But Clinches World Cup Title (Again)

LAHTI, Finland (March 11) - Odd-Bjoern Hjelmset of Norway won a World Cup 15K classic race Sunday at the Lahti Ski Games, while Germany's Tobias Angerer finished third to all but sewed-up his second straight World Cup title. Kris Freeman (Andover, NH) was 42nd.

Hjlemeset covered the three-lap course in 39:51.7 and led over the last half of the race. Teammate Eldar Roenning was second in 40:17.8 while Freeman finished in 43:02.2. Lars Flora (Anchorage, AK) was 64th. With four races remaining - and 100 points for winning, Angerer has 951 points to 573 for Russian Alexander Legkov.

Olympic double champion Kristina Smigun of Estonia won the women's 10K CL in 28:30.7. No U.S. women raced.
