50-50 Grooming Raffle helps keep race fee down

North American Vasa

Fri, Feb  1, 2008 - By Vasa

We have been blessed this year with some incredible ski conditions. The TART groomers have done a great job this year and in years past to provide us with great ski opportunities. Grooming is the single biggest expense involved in staging the Vasa races.

The Vasa board of directors has worked hard to keep entry fees down in an effort to make our races attractive to as broad a spectrum of skiers as possible. Our annual 50-50 Vasa Grooming Raffle plays a big part in keeping race fees down while keeping Vasa in the black. All proceeds will be used to offset race grooming costs as well as to fund future trail improvement projects.

As many of you know, we resurfaced over six miles of trails last fall which improved the ski/bike/hike surfaces tremendously, especially through Jack Pine. We have also done considerable cleanup on the long-neglected 50km loop. We have very aggressive plans to improve the trail surfaces on the 10k, 25k and 50k loops this coming year and the raffle proceeds will help pay for gas, grass seed, signage, etc.

We are counting on your support. Thank you in advance for your purchase of a 50-50 Vasa Grooming Raffle ticket. The drawing will occur at the awards party at the Hagerty Center following the races on Saturday, February 9. The tickets are $50 each and features the following prizes:
  1. The grand prize is 50% of all raffle proceeds.
  2. Second prize is a weekend getaway at Timber Ridge Resort
  3. Third prize is a pass for ten rounds of golf at Elmbrook Golf Course.
The drawing will take place at 7:30 pm. You need not be present to win, though it's more fun if you can attend the awards party. You can obtain your ticket by contacting Deb Westphal ( ) or Judy Vajda at ( ) or any other Vasa board member.

Please help us, not just with your purchase, but by promoting this raffle among your ski friends.
