Central Cross Country Skiing is pleased to announce the selection of Yuriy Gusev as Program Director for the 05-06 season.

The Program Director uses the best assets available to assist CXC Skiing in providing regional programming that will foster, enhance and build a strong ski culture. It must be accomplished in a logically structured and professional manner. The Program Director works with the CXC board, business advisors, and volunteers to perform the following duties including, but not limited to:  fundraising, sponsorship and endowment development; public relations; facilitating educational camps and seminars for athletes, coaches, and officials; trade relations; communicating with the CXC membership; communicating with US Skiing; and fostering positive relationships with regional clubs, teams, schools, and ski foundations.

Yuriy brings to this position an extensive background in education, racing, coaching and organization.  In Russia he was a first rank athlete of the Russian Sports Classification and received the equivalency of a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Physical Education. For the past three years he has been the Program Director and Head Coach of the Russian Style Ski School in Madison, Wisconsin. Among the athletes he has coached are Wisconsin State Champion, Bill Bowler and Junior National Sprint Champion, Ben Cline.  This past winter Yuriy organized and directed the Capitol Square Sprints, which in it's first year was part of the FIS Continental Cup SuperTour and a U.S. Olympic Team Qualifier.
CXC Skiing looks forward to the ambition and energy that Yuriy will bring to our organization.
