Getting there: Travel seven miles west on M-203 from Hancock. Skiing starts on either side of the road. McLain State Park marks the north entry of the Portage Canal into Lake Superior

What's there: McLain's trails are few and no true track is set, but the trail is smoothed as needed. Spectacular lake view scenery is the specialty of this trail. The terrain varies from flat open expanses to woods and hills. If you haven't skied the lakeshore, this is a definite must.
