Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
Michigander Cassidy Edwards, current J1 Girls Classic National Champion, is competing against the best skiers in the country and finishing within 90% of Olympian, Wendy Wagner.
The first Tuesday Night XC Ski Sprints took place at Timber Ridge on January 6 in very cold, windy, snowy conditions, for skiers and spectators alike.
This Junior-only race was held at Boyne Mountain after the originally scheduled Boyne Highlands Classic Race was cancelled because of poor snow conditions.
The Boyne Highlands Classic race scheduled for Sunday Jan 4 is officially cancelled. There is a small possibility that the GLD will move the Junior Olympic Qualifier to Boyne Mountain. Brian Carlson and Nick Baic will be discussing options with other JO coaches.

Sometimes skiing through mashed potatos, Milan Baic crossed the finish line first to win the 11 km men's race. Megan Madion finished first in the Women's 7 km. In the 7 km Junior Olympic Qualifier race, Julia Coulter and Jared Cregg were victorious.
NOON: Just got off the phone with Nick Baic - both races this weekend are still a GO. The Chestnut Valley race will be held on the golf course like last year.

The Chestnut Valley Freestyle and the Boyne Highlands Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Jan 3-4, WILL be held. Race organizers ask that racers who are planning to attend call or e-mail the race organizers so they can insure they have enough food for lunch.
Traverse Area Recreation & Transportation Trails (TART Trails) will continue to groom the Vasa Pathway for cross-country skiers this winter despite a lack of funding from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).
The Holly Cup on Saturday, December 27, 2003, has been cancelled due to lack of snow and low registrations.

Citizen’s Night Ski Race Series
Main MTU Trailhead, Michigan Tech Trails, Houghton, Michigan
Forbush Corner: We will be open at 9 tomorrow, shop closing at noon. We will leave the side gate on Roberts rd open for those wanting to ski. We will not be grooming due to the warmup and rain in the forecast for the week.
Watching the weather, and if conditions are favorable we will continue operations this coming Saturday and Sunday. So, if you want to ski this week, we ask that you leave a $10 trail fee in the slot in the wall near the east front entrance.
Nubs Nob: Excellent base depth and grooming. The snow was already pretty sticky by 11:00am with the warm temps and sun. Possible snow later this week means there is still a chance of nice ski conditions right up until closing day on April 5th. If you can hit the freeze-thaw just right it’s awesome out there.
