CANCELLED: Black Mountain 31K Classic and 10km Tour

Date:
SATURDAY, MARCH 2, 2024
Time:
10:00 AM
Where:
The Chateau at Black Mountain, 10621 Twin Lakes Road, Cheboygan, MI 49721
What:

UPDATE WED FEB 28. 2024: The Black Mountain Races are Cancelled. 70 degrees on Tuesday followed by only 1 inch of new snow makes the courses not workable for a race course. See you next year!

UPDATE TUESDAY FEB 20. 2024: The Black Mountain Nordic Ski Trails are completely snow covered as of today, 2/20/24. The warm and low-snow winter has led to some proposed changes to this years' events. The race directors are considering lap races on the Presque Isle side of the trail system. The east ridges of this PI side of the trail system tend to hold snow the longest and currently have the deepest base and snow depth on the entire system. There can be no Lake Start because of the low ice totals on Twin Lake. The Start and Finish area will be on the trail system near the County Line Road trail head parking lot. (This is near the only road crossing of the traditional 31km Classic course).

The Classic Race on Saturday March 2nd, and the Skate Race on Sunday March 3rd , are currently proposed to be 12 - 20 km in length. We remain hopeful that we can survive the predicted warm weather and will work to establish a fun, safe race course for all interested skiers.

Registration is open on Runsignup.com and will close at 10 pm on Friday March 1st for both races. We will update conditions regularly until the deadline.

Bib pick-up and after party will be at The Chateau at Black Mountain.
