Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
Hanson Hills has just announced a 'Race for the Groomer' Benefit Race, the proceeds of which will be used to repair and buy grooming equipment. The race will be on Sunday, February 22.

The Tuesday Night XC Ski Sprints were held at Timber Ridge this week, with 49 students from 5 teams and 23 adults participating in the freestyle race.
After a brutal January of single digit races, this one was a joy. Temperatures in the upper 20's, hard tracks, plenty of snow and a bunch of GRNST MI Cuppers out to make sure no one got lost.

December 29 was the first of three Monday night pre-Vasa clinics given by Milan Baic at Timber Ridge in Traverse City. The audience was as targeted – mostly inexperienced racers, with a few grizzled veterans.,
The second annual Crystal Highlander XC ski race took place Saturday morning, with 111 adults racing the 25 km course, and 30 juniors participating in the 10km. All four of last year's winners maintained their positions in first place again for the second year in a row.

Hickory Hills was the Janaury 27 site of the classic XC ski sprints Tuesday night with 24 juniors and 8 adults racing the 3km course.

Lower peninsula skier Beth Caldwell made the 2004 US Masters Team. Beth skis on the Cross Country Ski Headquarters Team for the Michigan Cup, and was a member of the NordicSkiRacer.com National Masters Championship Team. Other age group winners and overall team standings were also announced.

Forbush Corner: We will be open at 9 tomorrow, shop closing at noon. We will leave the side gate on Roberts rd open for those wanting to ski. We will not be grooming due to the warmup and rain in the forecast for the week.
Watching the weather, and if conditions are favorable we will continue operations this coming Saturday and Sunday. So, if you want to ski this week, we ask that you leave a $10 trail fee in the slot in the wall near the east front entrance.
Nubs Nob: Excellent base depth and grooming. The snow was already pretty sticky by 11:00am with the warm temps and sun. Possible snow later this week means there is still a chance of nice ski conditions right up until closing day on April 5th. If you can hit the freeze-thaw just right it’s awesome out there.
