The more I skied on the Rundle Impact and Podium poles, the more I found myself automatically grabbing these poles rather than an existing pair as I head out to ski. They just feel natural in my hands. Recommended!

LATEST TRAIL CONDITIONS

WED, MAR 4

Forbush Corner: It’s Wednesday, and we are forming a plan for the next couple of days. Tomorrow and Friday will probably be in play for some decent skiing. Tomorrow for sure. Going to groom up the 240 loop, Pancake, Linda’s Link, Badlands and the Pines loop for skate and classic. There are good classic tracks on the trails that won’t be groomed. Friday will be a bit more challenging for grooming, but maybe we can do the 240 loop, Linda’s link and Ridge. We expect to be closed to skiing on Saturday (ugly weather forecast) and not reopening until Thursday, March 12 following the warm temps. We hope that we will be open the following weekend based on cooler temps. Hold off on putting your skis away!

Hiawatha Highlands: Good Morning Snow Lovers!! It's a beautiful sunny morning up here....and shaping up to be a warmer one today. The temperature is currently at -1 C.

The groomer was out this morning -- the Pinder system was groomed for both classic and skate. The Red Pine system and Crystal system are holding up.

Come on up and enjoy this fantastic day!

Hanson Hills: Lodge and trails open at 9:00 AM
(Lodge closes at 3:00 PM)

No new grooming today. The PB100 really worked the snow yesterday grinding in new tracks, so we’re going to let the trail rest today.

Groomer Dan will be back out tomorrow morning to assess trail conditions and groom as conditions allow.

In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine and get out for a glide!

Swedetown: The Swedetown Trails will be closed to skiing and ski testing starting the morning of Friday, March 6, through 7:00 am Saturday, March 7. This will allow us to ensure quality groomed trails for the Great Bear Chase on March 7.

The current weather forecast shows a good chance of rain Friday afternoon and evening. This could mean grooming challenges and damage to the course by skiers while it is warm and wet. We want to groom and preserve such that everyone has a good experience on Saturday.

We want to keep Great Bear Chase skiers coming back, as each year the race contributes $20,000 or more to the Swedetown Trails Club for trail improvements and maintenance.

TUE, MAR 3

Hanson Hills: Amazing conditions. Slicks form when sun sets but the grooming and trail maintenance continues to delight. Good skate deck and crisp classic tracks. Thank you, Hanson!!!! ????

Huron Meadows Metropark: Excellent again. Fresh groom/till this AM held up well…fast and hard. Probably another day left tomorrow since it will freeze again tonight.

Stokely Creek: Today's and especially yesterday's grooming was fantastic for classic with skins today. At 3:20 pm there are no dripping icicles so it seems that tomorrow morning will be fantastic again. Worst case scenario it will be good spring skate skiing if the classic is too icy for you.

Hickory Hills: The best skiing in Traverse City is at Hickory. Both the Meadows and Hills were Pisten Bully groomed this morning. Everything is well covered with the exception of gray ice at the top of the first hill east of the parking lot, and some exposed gravel on The Beast. Skating is a bit soft, but fast. Classic tracks are well formed and deep. I used “B” skis, but “A” skis would be fine if you’re careful. Assuming they use the PB tomorrow, it should be great in the morning.

Hiawatha Highlands: Good Morning!! It's a calm, milder morning....temperature -8 C.

The groomer headed out this morning -- he will be freshening up the skate lanes with the Ginzu, beginning with the Pinder system, the Crystal system will be next and then the Red Pine system.

Have an awesome day!

Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Similar conditions to yesterday, Groomer Mike is snow combing the fresh man-made snow, and Trappers Cabin, Rolling Hills, Adventure, and Blizzard are holding up fairly well. All other trails are closed. Expect good conditions in the morning, softening up in the afternoon. Tomorrow looks like the same story. Thursday and Friday do not look promising, and we may have to close the trails to preserve the base for the relay race on Sunday. We'll see if the forecast changes, but right now, it does not look great for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We'll send another update Thursday morning.

Hanson Hills: Lodge and trails open 9am (Lodge closes at 3pm). My turn to sit in the PB100. Tracks and fresh comb are being reset on Yellow, brown, blue and easy return this morning.
