Hiihto Seppo Makinen served as Grand Marshall of the Heikinpaiva parade Saturday morning, then went out and won the Heikinpaiva Hiihto ski race Saturday afternoon at the Swedetown ski trails in Calumet. Results. |

The main event is a 22 Km race over challenging terrain on the Maasto Hiihto trails in Hancock that includes descents into and climbs out of the beautiful Swedetown Creek Gorge. | Jan 20 | Copper Island Classic Chassell Recreation hosted the Copper Island Classic cross-country ski race at the Chassell trails on Sunday, January 20. The striding-only event drew participants from as far away as Madison, Wisconsin, and featured both a race and a "guess your time" event. |

It most likely will be a Point to Point race starting at the bottom of the hill at the Nordic Center and finishing at the top of the Alpine Slopes with 25 K of skiing in between.
